Comparing the 20th century to now there are many hopeful signs. Look at the way people view war. These days many people challenge the need for it, they question why we have to resort to it. In the early twentieth century there was no talk about protecting the environment, yet now everyone is aware of it. Our perceptions are coming closer to reality; humanity is becoming more mature and I am optimistic about the future.

I left Macau yesterday... Here's the Sai Van Bridge, Macau Tower, some condos on the banks of the Nam Van Lake... Nice place to live. Lots of people gather near the lake and spread out blankets to eat dinner at night. I liked Macau more than I expected. I'll definitely return some day. If I ever want a little bit of Vegas in Asia, then I know where to go. :-) Some of the hotels - the Galaxy in particular - are so ridiculously over the top, it's quite good fun.

I'm now in Penang, Malaysia sitting ...

Email notifications from Google Webmaster Tools

Dear Webmaster Tools user,

We know that having a healthy and well-performing website is important to you. To keep you informed about your site's status Webmaster Tools will now automatically send you a notification email if there are critical or important issues that we detect with your site.

We'll only send you email for issues that we think have significant impact on your site's health or search performance which have clear actions that you can take to address. For example, we'll email you if we detect malware on your site or see a significant increase in errors while crawling your site.

For most sites these kinds of issues will occur rarely. If your site does happen to have an issue we cap the number of emails we send over a certain period of time to avoid flooding your inbox.

If you don't want to receive any email from Webmaster Tools you can change your email delivery preferences at https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/preferences.

We hope that you find this change a useful way to stay up-to-date on critical and important issues regarding your site's health.

If you'd like more information about Webmaster Tools and building Google-friendly websites please visit http://www.google.com/webmasters.

"The Subway"
Zion National Park, Utah - 2011

When one thinks of iconic locations to document in the American Southwest, Zion National Park is usually near the top of the list. With so many amazing geologic formations in such close proximity, it is not surprising that many love to visit this National Park. However not all locations are visible from your car, such as "The Subway" pictured above. Located deep in the back country, the main trail to access the subway not only requires a special permit, ...

+Todd Vierling rightly pointed out that this one link deserves more direct attention.

Edit: And we are back s of 9PM Central time. Please refrain from "me too!" "they all do it!" and other comments that do not serve the need of the public learning to fact check their politicians. Pointing out new lies from any politician using verifiable facts and logical reasoning would be a great contribution! Just please don't constantly bring up the same old debunked claims of lies. Repeating something does not...
Mitt Romney tells 533 lies in 30 weeks, Steve Benen documents them
I've written about or linked to a great deal here "chronicling Mitt's mendacity" — to borrow Steven Benen's phrase. Mitt Romney says many, many things that are not true. He says this despite being in ...

Boot Animation Revisited

Cameron Behzadpour (@Xevin) is back, lending his talents to re-imagining the CM10 bootanimation in all its chiptunes glory.

Some notes:

# This has not been merged into CM source yet, and is sitting on our gerrit review while we make sure it looks as good on all our devices as it does in Cameron's video.

# As it is still in review, some modifications may occur, so while this is most likely its final version, don't be surprised if we make some tweaks.

Aah, I could really use one of these Glass Balcony Pools for my apartment! Just a wonderful concept for now, it's one selling point for the ISM Parinee Ohm Tower, a proposed 30 story luxury condominium slated for construction in Mumbai, India. Considering the local climate there, I'd say they could use the easy pool access it more than I. Of course that doesn't mean I can't drop over once it's built ;)
